The European Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC ...

… defines uniform health and safety requirements for placing machinery on the market within the European Union.

This standard specifies that a machine must not be delivered until the instruction handbook, the EC Declaration of Conformity and, in general, all documents relevant to health and safety are available in the official language of the country in which the machine is marketed. If no operating instructions in the required official language are supplied, the operating instructions – and thus the product – are considered incomplete. Reviewed original operating instructions and other documents must therefore be translated by the manufacturer into the respective national language as an ISO 17100 certified translation and enclosed with the product.
