German-speaking control cabinet construction is the backbone of European industrial electrification. Control cabinet manufacturers, machine and plant builders with their own switchgear department, and OEMs with in-house control development supply the entire European single market with reliable control technology, whether standard switchgear per DIN EN standard 61439 or customer-specific special machinery. With significant exports to countries such as the UK, France, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, the demand for accurate, multilingual documentation is increasing. This includes circuit and terminal diagrams, commissioning manuals, declarations of conformity and training materials, all of which must be available in the relevant national language and be technically accurate and audit-ready. Since 2007, COMLOGOS has been translating for manufacturers of control and switchgear technology from the DACH region, with verified control cabinet construction terminology immediately available for every follow-up project.

Note: In control cabinet construction, linguistic precision determines commissioning times and service efficiency in the target country. A terminal diagram with unclear labels can add hours to assembly time. A mistranslated warning notice can trigger liability issues. We have over 19 years' experience in electrical engineering terminology, and we maintain a translation memory that is familiar with the language of your industry in the main export languages: English, French, Italian, Polish, Czech and Dutch.

Who we work for in control cabinet construction

Classic control cabinet manufacturers

Mid-sized manufacturers of standard switchgear and customer-specific controls from the DACH region, whether they have their own production facilities or act as contract manufacturers. We translate circuit and terminal diagrams, operating manuals and conformity documents for your customers in the EU single market, from France to Poland and from Italy to the Netherlands.

Machine and plant manufacturers with their own switchgear cabinet department

Integrated manufacturers who develop and produce their machinery and systems, including the electrical control systems, in-house. We deliver consistent translations for the complete package, including machine and switchgear documentation, from a single translation memory with unified terminology across all document types.

OEMs with in-house control system development

Manufacturers who develop PLC programmes, drive control systems and HMI solutions in-house, often with a high software share. We translate classic hardware documentation, HMI text, user interface strings and software manuals in the six to ten languages your global end customers expect.

Special machinery and specialty applications

Switchgear for special machinery, customer-specific control solutions, prototypes and small series. Here, terminology changes from project to project. We create a dedicated translation memory for each client, which accurately captures even irregular terms from speciality applications and makes them available for every new project.

Why COMLOGOS for control cabinet construction?

01

Almost 20 years of control cabinet construction experience

COMLOGOS has been translating for switchgear and control technology manufacturers in the DACH region since 2007, working with everyone from small control cabinet builders to large plant builders with their own switchgear departments. Over this time, a verified control cabinet construction terminology has been developed that is immediately available for every new project.

02

Translation memory for standard and special machinery

Each client gets their own maintained translation memory. For control cabinet construction clients, we deliberately combine recurring terms from standard switchgear with project-specific terminology from special machinery. This reduces follow-up costs by 30–70 % and ensures consistency, even for parallel projects in different languages.

03

Native translators with an electrical engineering background

Our translators are native speakers of the target language and have technical training or several years' experience in electrical engineering and switchgear construction. They understand the distinction between circuit symbol designations and plain-text descriptions, terminal designators and function text, and recognise when a symbol should not be translated. If requested, a translator and an independent subject-matter editor will work together according to the four-eyes principle as defined in ISO 17100.

04

We are audit-ready for CE and DIN EN standard 61439

We are familiar with the requirements of DIN EN standard 61439 (low-voltage switchgear assemblies), the Machinery Directive 2006/42/ECand the EMC Directive and the Low Voltage Directive from our day-to-day project work. Our own workflows are certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 17100 and ISO 18587. Translations are documented, terminologically verified and substantiated as audit-ready.

FAQ Frequently asked questions on translations in control cabinet manufacturing

Yes. We work with native exports from EPLAN Electric P8, AutoCAD Electrical and WSCAD. For EPLAN, we typically use the text table export (e.g. as XML or Excel), and for AutoCAD Electrical, we use the DWG/DXF text export. Symbols, cross-references, terminal and component designators remain unchanged. We only work on translation-relevant text content. If you request it, we can also re-import the data into your CAE system or deliver finished, localised circuit diagrams as a PDF.

For the EU single market and the UK (the two most important growth markets for German electrical engineering exports in 2026), the following languages are typically relevant: English (UK and global), French (France and Benelux), Italian, Spanish and Dutch (Western and Southern Europe), and Polish, Czech and Hungarian (Central and Eastern Europe). Romanian and Bulgarian are often added for production sites. For global exports, Chinese, Turkish and Russian are also relevant. We can advise you on a language strategy suited to your supply chain.

Yes. Our workflows are ISO 17100 certified and document every step of the translation process: translation memory, terminology database, translator qualification and, if required, the four-eyes principle. These measures meet the documentation consistency and traceability requirements that may be required in CE assessments and DIN EN standard 61439 inspections. We can provide evidence of our linguists’ translation qualifications on request.

In control cabinet construction, short turnaround times are often critical. On-site commissioning dates can rarely be postponed. For standard projects, we typically deliver within a few business days. Depending on the language and scope, we can also provide urgent translations within 24 hours. AI-assisted translation with post-editing in accordance with ISO 18587 can further reduce turnaround times without compromising compliance standards.

Ideally: One or two sample files from your current project phase (for example, a circuit diagram excerpt from EPLAN, a commissioning manual or a declaration of conformity), details of the target languages and country, and your desired delivery format (for example, EPLAN XML, Word, InDesign or PDF). If available, please also provide any existing term lists or glossaries. Based on this information, we will prepare a clear, no-obligation quote, including a plan for reuse in follow-up projects.
