German-speaking switch cabinet construction is the backbone of European industrial electrification. Whether standard switchgear according to DIN EN 61439 or customized special machines – switchgear cabinet manufacturers, machine and plant manufacturers with their own switchgear cabinet department and OEMs with their own control system development supply the entire European domestic market with reliable control technology. With strong exports to the UK, France, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, the need for precise, multilingual documentation is growing: circuit and terminal diagrams, commissioning manuals, declarations of conformity and training documents must be available in the respective national language – technically accurate and audit-proof. COMLOGOS has been translating for manufacturers of control and switchgear technology from the DACH region since 2007 – with tested switch cabinet construction terminology that is immediately available in every subsequent project.

Note: In switch cabinet construction, linguistic precision determines commissioning times and service efficiency in the target country. A terminal diagram in which designations are not clearly translated will add hours to the installation process - an incorrectly translated warning can lead to liability issues. We have over 18 years of experience with electrotechnical terminology and a well-maintained translation memory that already knows the language of your industry: in the main export languages English, French, Italian, Polish, Czech and Dutch.

Who we work for in switch cabinet construction

Classic switch cabinet builders

Medium-sized manufacturers of standard switchgear and customer-specific control systems from the DACH region, with in-house production or as contract manufacturers. We translate circuit diagrams and terminal diagrams, operating instructions and conformity documents for your customers in the EU internal market – from France to Poland, from Italy to the Netherlands.

Machine & plant manufacturer with its own control cabinet department

Integrated manufacturers who develop and manufacture their machines and systems, including electrical control systems, in-house. We deliver consistent translations for the complete package: machine documentation and control cabinet documentation from one translation memory, with standardized terminology across all document types.

OEMs with in-house controller development

Manufacturers who develop PLC programs, drive controls and HMI solutions themselves – often with a high proportion of software. We translate classic hardware documentation as well as HMI texts, user interface strings and software manuals – in the 6-10 languages that your global end customers expect.

Special machine construction & special applications

Switchgear for special machines, customer-specific control solutions, prototypes and small series. Here, the terminology changes from project to project – we build up a separate translation memory for each customer, which also clearly maps irregular terms from special applications and makes them available for each new project.

Why COMLOGOS for switch cabinet construction

Over 18 years of switch cabinet construction experience

COMLOGOS has been translating for manufacturers of switchgear and control technology in the DACH region since 2007 – from small switchgear cabinet manufacturers to large plant manufacturers with their own switchgear cabinet department. During this time, we have developed a proven switchgear cabinet construction terminology that is immediately available for every new project.

Translation memory for standard and special machines

Each customer receives their own, well-maintained translation memory. For switch cabinet construction customers, we specifically map both worlds: recurring terms from standard switchgear and project-specific terminology from special machines. This reduces follow-up costs by 30-70% and ensures consistency – even for parallel projects in different languages.

Native translator with an electrical engineering background

Our translators are native speakers of the target language and have technical training or several years of experience in electrical engineering and switchgear construction. They know the difference between circuit symbol designations and plain text descriptions, between terminal designations and functional texts – and know when a symbol should not be translated. If required, translators and independent technical editors can work in accordance with the ISO 17100 dual control principle.

Audit-proof for CE and DIN EN 61439

We are familiar with the requirements of DIN EN 61439 (low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies), the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the EMC Directive and the Low Voltage Directive from our day-to-day project work. Our own workflows are ISO 9001:2015, ISO 17100 and ISO 18587 certified. Translations are documented, terminology-checked and audit-proof.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions about translation in enclosure construction

Yes, we work with native exports from EPLAN Electric P8, AutoCAD Electrical and WSCAD. With EPLAN we typically use the export of the text tables (e.g. as XML or Excel), with AutoCAD Electrical the DWG/DXF texts. Symbols, cross-references, terminal and component identifiers remain unchanged – we only process the text content relevant to translation. On request, we can also take over the re-import into your CAE system or deliver fully localized circuit diagrams as PDF files.

For the EU single market and the UK – the most important growth markets for German electrical engineering exports in 2026 – the following languages are typically relevant: English (UK and global), French (France, Benelux), Italian, Spanish and Dutch (Western/Southern Europe), Polish, Czech and Hungarian (Central/Eastern Europe). Romanian and Bulgarian are often added for production sites. Chinese, Turkish and Russian are also used for global exports. We advise you individually on the language strategy that best suits your supply chain.

Yes, our workflows are ISO 17100 certified and document every translation step – translation memory, terminology database, translator qualification and, if required, the dual control principle. This means we meet the documentation consistency and traceability requirements that may be demanded for CE assessments and DIN EN 61439 tests. On request, we can provide proof of the linguists’ translation qualifications.

Short lead times are often crucial in switch cabinet construction – commissioning dates on site can rarely be postponed. For standard projects, we usually deliver within a few working days. For rush orders, we can also provide translations within 24 hours, depending on the language and scope. AI-supported translation with post-editing in accordance with ISO 18587 further shortens turnaround times without compromising compliance requirements.

Ideal: 1-2 sample files from your current project phase (e.g. a circuit diagram excerpt from EPLAN, a commissioning manual, a declaration of conformity), the target languages, the target country and your desired delivery format (e.g. EPLAN-XML, Word, InDesign, PDF). Existing term lists or glossaries are also welcome, if available. On this basis, we create a clear, non-binding offer including a plan for reuse in subsequent projects.
